Lira Magistrate Court Releases Suspects In Theft Of Government Drugs

Lira Grade one Magistrate Court has released two women arrested over the weekend over allegations of stealing government drugs.

The women were released on a cash bail of one Hundred thousand shilling each.

The duo Mary Akello, a nurse attached to Amach Health Centre III in Lira and Ruth Awor, the proprietor of Kakoge Clinic each produced two sureties before Grade One Magistrate Court on Wednesday Afternoon.

Anthony Ojuka, the Lira Secretary for production and also a husband to Ruth Awor, and Catherine Alum stood surities for Ruth Awor, while Obong Isaac and Aceng Grace stood surities for Mary Akello, a nurse attached to Amach Health Center III.

Surities were however charged 2 million shillings non cash bail payable when the accused abscorn court hearings according to the Magistrate ,Hilary Kiwanuka.

It is alleged that the due were found in possession of Government drugs include 20 bottles of Diclofenac, 60 Ampules of Gentamicin, 6 Bottles of Hydrocotazone, 3 boxes of Ampicilin Sodium and 15 Strips of SD Rapid Test among other vital drugs.

Court is set to hear the matter on 3rd May 2017.
