Justice Dr Benjamin Odoki - Chancellor Lira University Arrives

The Chancellor of Lira University Dr Justice Benjamin Odoki has pledged to help the new public university grow rapidly after making his first appearance at the campus on Thursday.

The former Chief Justice who was appointed by president Museveni last year as the first chancellor for Lira University is yet to be officially installed in a ceremony expected to be presided by the President at a date yet to be communicated.

He made his maiden visit to the campus on Thursday and addressed students and university staff.

During his speech, he pledged to use his previous reputation to lobby support both from nationally and internationally to help Lira University grow faster.

He implored all the students to despite all the challenges that the university is facing, work hard and achieve objectives of their training.

Odoki thanked the current staff of Lira university who has made the university appear as if it has been there for decades .

An Applauds rocked the campus when he said the current budget of the University is too small assuring staff, students and the general public that he will asked government for an increase.

Vice chancellor professor Jasper Ogwal Okeng on his part said he is confident Odoki is capable of developing the University from its currents status.

On behalf of the students, the Guild President Isaac Otee revealed that students are willing to work with the former Chief Justice whom they have been yearning to receive at the campus.

Lira University who operated as a constituent College of Gulu University for over four years, became a new public University in July last year.
