Radio Wa´s News reporter Amony Immaculate (In White Skirt shaking hands with the Director) has been nominated for the Uganda National Journalism Awards 2017.

Through her successful nomination, Radio Wa also became the only media house from the entire Northern Uganda to feature in The African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME)’s yearly National Award announced yesterday (Thursday).

Amony is among a shortlist of 80 journalists for the Uganda National Journalism Awards 2017 in the Agricultural category with an entry of a feature report titled: “Reaping Big with Fish Farming”.

She says the competition has made her to aim higher.

Meanwhile Irene Achan, the Chief News editor said the achievement by Amony is a shared achievement of Radio Wa as a family.

Dr George Lugalambi, who has chaired the judging panel since the awards were first held in 2014, said the general standard of entries continues to improve annually.

This year’s winners will be announced at an invitation-only gala event on the evening of Wednesday, 12 April 2017, at Golf Course Hotel in Kampala. Dr Louis Kasekende, the Deputy Governor of Bank of Uganda, will preside as Chief Guest.
