Lira Municipal Mayor To Offer "Mayoral Handshake" To Teachers

The Authorities of Lira Municipal Council have agreed to begin appreciating through what they will call a handshake to head teachers whose schools excel in Primary leaving examination- PLE.

The pronouncement was made by Lira deputy Town Clerk Patrick Ogweng and Mayor Mike Ogwang Veve while officially handing over PLE results from 28 centres of the schools in Lira Municipality to head teachers at the Health board room.

Patrick Ogweng said that they will arrange and give handshakes as the only way of motivating the head teachers whose school put the Municipal on the national map.

Ogweng however warned the proprietors of mostly private schools against over dramatizing of schools because it may confuse the public.

Lira Municipal Principal Education Officer Miss Jane Frances Ofungi however lauded private school for making Lira shine countrywide.

Mayor Mike Ogwang Veve challenged the Head teachers within Lira Municipal Council to ask themselves why Thomas Jacinta Otema, the headmaster of VH Primary school is exemplary in all the schools he has served as head teacher.

On his part Patrico Ocak the Secretary Municipal Examination Board applauded head teachers, teachers and parents for the collective effort they made that made Lira to be ranked 9th countrywide.

In the results Lira St Kizito is ranked first in Lira Municipality scoring 97.3% followed by Mantle day and boarding School.
