Thousands of people yesterday thronged Aber Catholic Parish to welcome the Papal Nuncio in Uganda, His Excellency Archbishop Michael August Blume who was in Lira Diocese for a pastoral work to commission an emergency unit at St. John's Hospital Aber.

Before then, the Nuncio who led a Eucharistic Mass, administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 350 Christians and later blessed the new building of St Peter and Paul Chapel at Kamdini Township.

Speaking about the emergency unit that was built with the assistance of Medical Aid for Northern Uganda, a USA based Charity, the Nuncio said it was made possible due to the prayers that the people have been asking for better medical care.

He paid a special tribute to the benefactors whom he said offered an answer to the needs of the people to continue having more and better medical care.

To the newly confirmed Christians and all those who were bestowed upon with the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament, the Papal Nuncio re-echoed Pope Francis' call to them to reach out to those who need God's mercy in them

While at Kamdini for the blessing of the new Chapel of St. Peter and Paul, Archbishop Blume told the over crowded church to believe in the presence of Jesus among them and his call on them to call more to join them in the house of the Lord.

Among the dignitaries who graced the occasions were the Minister of Health Jane Ruth Acheng, the Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban development Betty Amongi, the Woman Member of Parliament for Oyam Santa Alum Ogwang, the LC 5 Chairperson Oyam Nelson Adea Akar and his councillors, and the team from Medical Aid for Northern Uganda to mention but a few.
