Police Officer Shot Civilian - Arrested In Amolatar

The Police in Amolatar Central Police station is holding two Police officers in connection with the death of Robert Ogwal a local resident of Kayago landing site Namasale sub county Amolatar District.

David Ongom Mudong the Police Public Relation officer for North Kyoga confirmed the arrest and noted that the two police officers tentatively are on murder charges as inquiries continue and the case was recorded at Amolatar central Police station under CRB 16/2016.

It is alleged that on the 1. Jan.2017 at around 1.00AM the officers who were in for patrol encountered a group of local people who seemed to be rioting and setting ablaze the papyrus Kiosks in the trading centre, they shot one civilian Robert Omara in their attempt to put situation to order.

The officers including two civilians from the same landing side are being held to help police do more investigations to acerain the truth of the matter.

He said AIP Otema no 22167 and Corporal Byamugish are being detained in regard to the incident at Amolatar CPS.

Other two civilians Sam Omara and Daniel Okeng both fisher men are also in Police custody to help the Police in conducting the investigations.

The regional Police spoke Person North Kyoga confirmed the arrest of two civilians saying they are facing charges of inciting violence .
