A Village Meeting In Chawente

By Geoffrey Odongo:

In line with the decentralization policy of taking services nearer to the people, Apac District has created a new Sub County of Atongtidi out of Chawente Sub County.

The Vice Chairperson and leader of Government business Odongo Asanti said the idea behind the creation of Atongtidi Sub County is to uplift the status of Kwania County to a district being curved out of Apac district and to be operational by the 1st July 2018.

Asanti urges the community of Atongtidi to embrace the development and ensure that they give the much needed support.

Geoffrey Eling Owera, the Local Councillor V for Chawente, welcomed the development saying it will ease his work as apolitical leader because Chawente Sub county used to be very large making work to be very stressful.

The new Sub County of Atongtidi will have six parishes which include, Acenlworo, Goi, Atongtidi, Wigweng, Iwal and Agolowelo parish.
